# Configure widget layout, theme, and filters

> Every setting in the KudosWall Widget Editor: layout, theme, display options, header, filters, and branding — with defaults and plan tier requirements.

The Widget Editor gives you full control over how your testimonials look and which ones appear. Open any widget from **Dashboard > Widgets** and use the settings panel on the left to configure it. Every change previews instantly on the right before you save.

#### Layout

Choose how testimonials are arranged on the page.

* **Grid** — A responsive card grid that adapts to the available width. This is the default and works on all plans.
* **Masonry** — A Pinterest-style layout where cards flow into columns at varying heights, creating a natural staggered look. Requires Pro.
* **Carousel** — A horizontally scrolling display with optional auto-advance, navigation arrows, and a configurable interval between slides. Requires Pro.
* **Columns override** — Force a specific number of columns instead of letting the layout respond automatically to screen width.

**Carousel-specific options** (available when carousel layout is selected):

* Auto-advance: automatically move to the next slide
* Slide interval: time in milliseconds between slides
* Show arrows: show left/right navigation arrows

#### Theme

Controls the color scheme of the widget cards.

* **Light** — White cards on a light background. Works well on light-colored websites.
* **Dark** — Dark cards designed for dark-background sections or pages.
* **Auto** — Automatically matches the visitor's operating system preference (light or dark mode).

#### Display options

Fine-tune what information appears on each testimonial card.

* **Max items** — The maximum number of testimonials to display. Defaults to 20.
* **Show star ratings** — Show or hide the star rating on each card. On by default.
* **Show reviewer photo** — Show or hide the author's avatar. On by default.
* **Show reviewer company** — Show or hide the reviewer's company name. On by default.
* **Show date** — Show or hide the date the testimonial was submitted. On by default.
* **Truncate text** — Set a character limit for testimonial text, showing a "read more" link for longer content. Set to **off** to always show the full text.
* **Card border radius** — The roundness of card corners: **none**, **small**, **large**, or **pill**.
* **Card shadow** — The depth of the card's drop shadow: **none**, **subtle**, or **medium**.

#### Header

The widget can display a header section above the testimonials with a title and aggregate rating.

* **Header title** — The heading text displayed above the testimonials. Defaults to "What our customers say".
* **Header auto stats** — When enabled, KudosWall automatically calculates and displays your average rating and total review count from your approved testimonials. On by default.
* **Header rating / review count** — If you turn off auto stats, you can manually enter the rating and review count to display in the header.
* **Hide header** — Remove the header section entirely and show only the testimonial cards.

#### Filters

Control which testimonials the widget displays.

* **Filter tags** — Only show testimonials that have been tagged with one or more specific tags. Useful for targeting widget content to a specific audience or topic.
* **Filter minimum rating** — Hide testimonials below a star rating threshold. For example, set to 4 to show only 4- and 5-star reviews.
* **Filter type** — Show all testimonials, text-only testimonials, or video testimonials only.
* **Pinned IDs** — Specify testimonial IDs that always appear first, regardless of sort order.
* **Excluded IDs** — Specify testimonial IDs to never show in this widget, even if they would otherwise match the filters.

#### Branding

Match the widget to your site's visual identity.

* **Accent color** — The color used for star ratings and highlighted elements. Defaults to `#e8527a`.
* **Background color** — The background color of the widget container. Defaults to transparent, so it inherits your page's background.
* **Text color** — Override the default testimonial text color. Leave blank to use the theme default.
* **Font family** — Set the widget's font to match your site's typography. Defaults to the system sans-serif.
* **Custom font** — Load a custom web font by providing a font URL and font name. Useful if your brand uses a hosted font not included in the standard options.
* **Animation** — Choose **fade** to animate testimonials in as they load, or **none** to show them immediately.
* **Hide "Powered by KudosWall" badge** — Remove the KudosWall attribution badge from the bottom of the widget. Requires Pro.

#### Advanced

* **Locale** — Set the widget's display language. Defaults to `en`.
